Hello McSpedden Families!

 

 

I would like to first welcome back all returning McSpedden families and give a big WELCOME to all of our new families.  My name is Courtney Akai and I am honored to serve as your PTA President for the 2026-2027 school year. The McSpedden PTA is looking forward to making it another fantastic year with all of you!

 

 
WHAT IS THE PTA:

A volunteer group dedicated to supporting our school by providing additional resources to our students and staff. 

Through your membership dues and generous donations, McSpedden’s PTA has funded:

  • curriculum improvements
  • educational enrichment programs
  • campus enhancements
  • teacher appreciation efforts

Because of you, McSpedden has been awarded:

  • Golden Apple Award (100% staff membership)

  • Voice for Every Child Silver Award (50% of the school’s total enrollment)
  • Men are Really Super (MARS) Membership award (at least 50 male members)
  • MARS Involvement (at least 1 male member serves on Board)
  • Community Involvement (at least 1 community member serves on Board)
  • Family & Student Engagement Impact
  • School of Excellence 2024-2026
  • School of Excellence 2021-2023

PARTICIPATION OPPORTUNITIES:
Wondering what you can do as a PTA member?  This year might look a little different but we still need all of your help. The PTA has several opportunities for you to participate and we can’t wait to have you! 
  1. Staffing events such as the book fair and winter carnival when on-campus events return
  2. Serving on committees to help brainstorm on how to help our school virtually
  3. Helping on campus if/when needed
  4. Helping teachers as room parents with digital communication    
  5. If volunteering isn’t feasible, participation in fundraisers (Fun Run, Book Fair, Field Day, etc) and your membership donation are critical and help tremendously. 

***Everyone can play an important role in making our PTA a success, even if it is just as simple as becoming a member***

 
 
 
MEMBERSHIP AND COMMUNICATION:
We will continue to use our membership toolkit website to help you stay connected.  This site allows you to activate your membership and keeps you informed on all the great events that are happening at our school. This page is a work in progress and we hope to use it to its full potential.  Please check it regularly to stay informed.
